A message for ACTRA Newfoundland and Labrador Members from your Branch President.

April 2020

Dear ACTRA NL Members,

As your new president, I’m reaching out in this challenging and unprecedented time to assure you that we are taking care of each other. Our ACTRA members are some of the most generous, compassionate and creative people in my circle. While I know it may change many things, I hope this crisis will also make us more resilient. Right now, it’s imperative to take care of yourselves, your families, and do what it takes to stay healthy. You may be in isolation, but with your ACTRA family you are not alone here.

In NL, many of this year’s productions and events have been impacted by COVID-19. The situation changes daily. Please know that our National and local Councils are working hard on your behalf. Our union leaders have been talking to Government leaders, requesting their support and advocating for our self-employed members. Our staff has transitioned to working from home where they tirelessly ensure outstanding payments get to performers. They answer our members’ concerns and provide updated information.

Friends, we will get through this tough time together. Visit actra.ca to view the new webpage dedicated to the COVID-19 crisis, which is updated regularly to give you the best information from our public health officials, to protect each other and control the outbreak. Keep following (and tagging @actranational!) on your social media platforms. You are important to our strength and unity. We want to hear your updates, encouragement and support.

ACTRA Newfoundland and Labrador President Ruth Lawrence Safe home,

Ruth Lawrence
